Jump to CommentsThe Coast is home to many a Chinese restaurant but very rarely to we get the chance to sample the delights of authentic Oriental cuisine. For some years now, Tai Pan has enjoyed a reputation as one of the finest restaurants in Marbella. Ensconced within the lush gardens of Puente Romano, perhaps it’s the salubrious address which impresses at first… but the restaurant truly speaks for itself. Tai Pan offers an unusual and upmarket Oriental dining experience – perfect for special occasions, dining in numbers yet just right for a romantic dinner for two. Walk in, soak up the setting and sip pre-dinner drinks at the Polynesian-style cocktail bar. Tai Pan’s signature décor – vibrant red walls inscribed with black Chinese symbols – Oriental detailing and soft music set the mood for the evening ahead.
It’s no coincidence that the celebrated cuisine has become such a talking point in Marbella for residents and visitors alike. The menu is a carefully thought-out compilation of dishes, prepared by a team of Cantonese chefs and cooked to perfection with a lightness of touch that only someone from the Orient could have.
On the night in question, we decided to go with seafood and fish - steamed scallops with ginger and spring onions, lobster with Tai Pan’s special sauce, pan-fried Szechaun prawns in chilli sauce…but (from previous experience) we can guarantee the rest of the menu is equally as good.
