AUTUMN BEAUTY Your tan is fading, the temperature is cooling and all the leaves are turning brown. Yes, autumn has arrived. How about, instead of feeling sad and gloomy, you embrace this season. Be inspired by all the beautiful gold, bronze and burnt orange colours that surround us.Let me introduce you to Laura Shelley, an international makeup artist who has worked on D&G campaigns and celebrities such as Aerosmith’s Steve Tyler. She will be showing you how to work those colours to the max and, to make it even easier, she has used only MAC cosmetics. Saves all that hopping from one makeup counter to another, doesn’t it? STEP 1 – Loose WavesPrep your hair before starting your makeup. This gives the hair time to set. Next, take a small section of hair and coat lightly with hairspray. Using the straightening irons insert your hair between the plates and gently squeeze the handles together while gliding the  iron to the ends.  Without releasing, wind the hair around the plates all the way up to the roots and hold for five seconds. Finally, re-wind the curls with your fingers and pin with grips.  STEP 2 – Prep the Skin“I always start off with Prep + Prime Skin primer,” say Laura. “It helps even out pigmentation,  balance oil and perfect the skin tone. If you apply it in the morning your makeup will still look as good when you come home again.” STEP 3 – Eyes“I want women to think outside the box when it comes to makeup. You don’t have to use the same routine every day: foundation, concealer, eyes, etc. Why not start with your lips or your eyes. Shake it up a little.”To create this sexy, striking eye makeup take Paint Pot in soft ochre, a cream coloured base all the way up to the brow bone. Then smooth Brule Eye Shadow over the base to really open up the eye. Next, starting by the eyebrow nearest to the nose, take a brush loaded with Mystery Eye Shadow and sweep it outwards, blending it out onto the lid. The majority of the eyeshadow should be situated by the inner corner of the eye.  Line the eye with Fluidline’s Gel in Black Track. Laura’s tip: “Gel eyeliners dry out quickly, so turn the pot upside down while using it.” Eye Kohl Costa Riche is then used along the eyelid crease to intensify.   STEP 4 – Flutter FantasticI once had a highly embarrassing date, when my falsies pinged off in the middle of an intimate conversation. Funny enough I never saw him again. Laura shares her foolproof guide with me so it doesn‘t happen again. “Curl lashes first so that they blend in with the false ones, then apply mascara. Now put the glue on your false lashes and leave it to dry for a few seconds or until it goes tacky. Attach to one corner of the eye and then the other. Just hold the ends and they will fall into place.  STEP 5 – Flawless FoundationAlways use the 190 Foundation Brush when applying foundation. It glides over hairs and lays the foundation on more naturally. Apply Face and Body Foundation, which is a  water-resistant product, making it  perfect for autumnNow take a close look at your face and see where you REALLY need concealer. Usually it will be the nose, under the eyes and maybe the chin. Gently cover these areas in Concealer Select Moisture Colour. Finish off with Mineralize Skinfinish/Natural, buffing it into the skin for a beautiful flawless finish. To add contouring, use Mineralize Skinfinish/Natural in dark, from the tragus to the corner of the mouth. This will avoid that dreadful ‘80s look. Laura says: “People always ask me why my skin looks so good; it’s just mineral powder. I love it.” STEP 6 – The Perfect BodyTo achieve that much-wanted sun-kissed look, mix Studio Mist Foundation in deep dark with Face and Body Foundation. This will cover stretch marks, veins and pigmentation and won’t budge when it rains. Fabulous! Cover your body from top to bottom and then brush Pigment in Tan over the top for that red carpet sheen.  STEP 7 – Pucker UpFor pout-a-licous lips coat in Lip Prep + Prime, then apply clear Lipglass. STEP 8 – The Finale  Un-pin the hair and turn your head upside down. Spray all over for extra hold.

The final result? I’d say autumn beauty has just stepped up a gear, wouldn’t you?
