Health and Beauty - Summer Days Are Drifting Away

Summer Days Are Drifting Away

Next month, I am afraid to say, is when the beauty world turn their eyes to what’s hot for winter.  To keep you in the loop, I will give you a little peek into the up and coming trends. Ready? Hair is all about partings: at Christopher Kane they were worn in the centre and slicked back into a ponytail; while at Jaeger the hair was worn loose but blow-dried straight. As for makeup, tanorexics out there, it’s time to tone it down as the English rose look is the only way to go. Here’s a look at what is new on the beauty radar. A BLEND OF PERFECTIONEveryone has their favourite way of applying foundation, whether it be by fingers, brush or sponge. Mine happens to be the latter. I have tried many different versions but always go back to my Body Shop sponge. Until now! Let me introduce you to the Beauty Blender – designed by two elite Hollywood makeup artists, Rea Ann Silva and Veronica Lorenz, who have worked with Jennifer Garner, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Christina Aguilera. Fed up with years of customising regular makeup sponges they created a product that could achieve an airbrush finish for the everyday woman. The round curves of the Beauty Blender give a clean even finish with no visible edges. I use mine for everything from concealing the awkward area of your inner eye to even blending my blusher. I also love the Blender Cleanser that gets my sponge quickly clean and even has an area to dry my sponge. Genius!More information: www.beautyblender.net THE SALT OF LIFEHave you noticed how nice your skin is after swimming in the sea? I find that my skin is always  softer, rashes disappear and blemishes clear up. So, imagine what would happen if you bathed in the Dead Sea. Well, now you don’t have to as Finders Spa Magic bring the Dead Sea to your own bathroom. My favourite product is the Dead Sea Bath Salts. I pour them into my tub and soak for 20 minutes. This relaxes my aches and pains (my Dad swears it helps his arthritis) and alleviates my dry skin. I then rinse it off (learn from my mistake of not following the directions; it was like sleeping in itching powder) and smother my body in their Silky Smooth Body Lotion. For days after I get comments on how soft my skin feels. Float off to the Dead Sea with Finders Spa Magic.More information: www.findershealth.com (stockists: O2 Wellness Centre)  BODY CONTOURINGClarins have just launched their Body Shaping Supplement, a revolutionary formula that melts into other textures without altering them. This means it can be added to your favourite body moisturiser to give it fat and cellulite busting properties too. Formulated with Baccharis, Hortonia and Agrimony to help smooth away sponginess, it inhibits the development of fat tissue and smooths and tones skin. The pen-like dispensers enable clean, precise dosage, so it's never been easier to shape your silhouette and take care of your skin.  MY INSOLENCEHow beautiful does Hilary Swank look in these campaigns. I think she knocks the socks off many a top supermodel. My Insolence is described as "a softer, fruitier fragrance than the original", and the notes include raspberry, almond blossom, jasmine, patchouli, vanilla and tonka bean. I really liked the opening notes, which start off much sweeter and fruitier; lots of raspberry lollipop cut with a trace of tart citrus. Formulated jointly by Christophe Raynaud and Sylvaine Delacourte it comes in Eau De Toilette, Magic Shower Gel and Tender Body Lotion. It’s worth a sniff, so pop down to El Corte Inglés and give it a try. COULD IT BE MAGIC Guerlain L'Instant Magic is entirely unrelated to the original L'Instant fragrance, according to Guerlain's Sylvaine Delacourte, “...except for the freshness permeating the composition”. The fragrance features floral, woodsy and musk notes. There is bergamot in the top, rose and freesia in the heart, and white musk in the base. It also comes in a Body Lotion, Magic Body Cream and Magic Body Deodorant spray. Add a touch of Magic to your life. SKIN SUPPLIES FOR MEN Not leaving out our male readers, Clinique were one of the first brands to realise the potential of the men’s market. They created the Skin Supplies for Men range, with masculine packaging and easy to use directions. A great three-step process for you fellas is as follows: cleanse with the Face Soap Regular Strength, which will not dry the skin; next sweep away the top layer of dead skin cells with the Scruffing Lotion; and finish of with M lotion, a lightweight non-greasy formula, making it a perfect everyday moisturiser. If in doubt, head to you nearest Clinique counter and they will work out the perfect skin care routine for you. GIVE YOURSELF A LIFTSisley Radiant Instant Life is an updated version of the Sisley Tensor Immediate Lift. It is a refreshing, non-greasy gel featuring natural botanical extracts and essential oils such as lavender and geranium. The products create an immediate lifting effect, while also giving skin a luminous, radiant finish. It works best when used after your regular Sisley day cream. A perfect base for flawless makeup.
