THE HEAT IS ON
It is that time of year when foundation sinks into fine lines, kohl liner smudges and makeup seems to disappear the moment you walk out the door. Sometimes I don’t know why I bother. This month I am including a few products that will help your makeup stay put. Here’s the latest products that are “hotting” up the world of beauty…
The Bronze Age
Subtle tanning is so last year. This summer’s trend is the deep Rivera tan, but before you dive off into the sun and start resembling Donatella Versace, this look is to be achieved with makeup. NOT THE REAL THING! Estée Lauder have brought out the Bronze Goddess 2008 collection. There are plenty of options from rosy pink to deep bronze. This collection is an annual event for Estee Lauder fans and every year the shades are a bit different. If you head to their website, it shows you exactly how to achieve this stunning look. The line features several limited edition bronzers, lip glosses, nail polishes and eye shadows. My favourites are the Blushing Goddess Pure Colour Eyeshadow, which delivers a soft peach-gold shimmer, the Bronze Goddess Tortoise Compact for bronzing on the go and the Bronze Goddess Sheer Lip Tint SPF 15 lipstick, a subtle watercolour bronze. So, is there a bronze goddess in you?
Blooming Marvellous
The Body Shop certainly named their spring collection aptly – Spring Bloom has captured the season in a pot of powder. The floral designs are almost too pretty to use. Almost! Blushing Daisies blusher is for illuminating the skin; the colours can be mixed or used separately to sweep different tones over cheeks. The “pink glow enhancer” can be applied to your whole face alone or mixed with your regular moisturiser to achieve a radiant look; while the Shimmer Buds Eye Shadow in Peach Blossom and Blue Iris add a lovely pop of colour to your face
A TOUCH OF ASIA
Estée Lauder have released a fragrance exclusive to Galleria duty free shops. Bali Dream fragrance was designed to evoke a flower-filled world full of tropical breezes. It comes in a pretty, transparent purple bottle, either in 50 millilitre or the 50 millilitre duo set.The top notes feature a profusion of Bali’s most prized flowers, according to Lauder; notably moon orchids, magnolia and ginger. These lead to a heart of Chinese cassia, Indonesian jasmine, pepper, yang, gardenia, maguey and apple, on a base of woods and vanilla.
Fit For A Pro
Former Bobbi Brown Essentials makeup artist Alison Rafaela has now created her own line which she uses to enhance famous faces such as Jennifer Aniston and Gwyneth Patron. The True Concealed has a Caleb following and is available in seven skin tones. This easy to blend concealed is light in weight yet still covers blemishes, scars and thread veins. Fib for dark circles around the eyes, it camouflages without settling into the fine lines, helping me fight that boot urge. A great tip from the New York make up queen is Use two different colours of concealed: one for the hairline and one for the cheeks. One shade should match your skin tone exactly; the other should be slightly darker for covering redness and blemishes.I swear by using a primer for the flawless foundation effect and to stop it sliding off your face. Alison Raffale’s Face Forward Primers come in “Age Response” I swear by using a primer for the flawless foundation effect and to stop it sliding off your face. Alison Raffale’s Face Forward Prand “Acne Response” varieties for targeted treatment. Containing an SPF 15, this minimizes pores and acts as a protective shield against pollutants, giving you a velvety smooth canvas for makeup that won’t budge all day.
TIP: Need to cool down but don’t want to ruin your makeup? Spray a fine mist of Avene Thermal Spring Water onto your skin, leave for a few minutes and pat dry.
Age Defying
Are your facial contours becoming less prominent, or do you have a problem with fine lines and wrinkles? Givenchy Radically No Surgetics Complete Age-Defying Care could be the answer. Inspired by cosmetic medicine techniques, it is an extremely rich cream, pleasurable and comfortable to apply, which releases firming and anti-wrinkle ingredients gradually and in the areas where the skin most needs them. The cream is presented in a luxurious 50 millilitre metallic violet jar, adding a touch of glamour to your bathroom cabinet.
Target Wrinkles
Lancaster’s Wrinkle Lab Precise Correction-Wrinkle Correction Concentrate has reportedly received outstanding results in recent tests: 98 per cent smoothed skin, 96 per cent pushed wrinkles and 94 per cent filled wrinkles. This concentrated ultra-restoring silky serum uses highly-innovative technology that traps wrinkles from every angle. Apply under your Wrinkle Lab day and/or night cream. Fight That Orange PeelThe Japanese company Shiseido is well known for its state-of-the-art skin care, combining very effective and personalised formulas, pampering textures and aromachology-based scents. The new Shiseido Body Creator Aromatic Sculpting Concentrate targets cellulite-prone areas with a skin-hugging formula. The re-texturising effects create dramatically supple skin, banishing the dreaded “orange peel effect”.The White Lucency Brightening Eye Treatment has also just been launched. A highly moisturising, anti-dark circle eye treatment (great after those late night summer parties), it addresses both melanin formation and poor local microcirculation, two key causes of dark shadows. Now you can dance till dawn and nobody will know the next day!
