A BIT OF POSH

Posh Hair and Beauty Centre Love is in the air, but there is only so much your hormones can do. If you REALLY want to look sensational in that new underwear set, why not bring in the professionals. Posh Hair & Beauty Centre can take you from housewife to sex goddess for Valentines Day.

Situated in Bel Air, this spanking new salon is putting on an unbelievable offer for the month of February. You can experience their “Pamper Day” for only €150. Spoil yourself with a mini creative manicure and pedicure; a Decléor mini facial including exfoliation and mask to suit skin type; a hydrotherapy shower and exfoliation to prepare skin for tanning; a Nutra Sun complete spray tan in a choice of eight shades; a complete makeup by a professional makeup artist; and, finally, a choice of hair up or blow dry. Wow, that tired me out just writing about it, but girlies that’s not all. Included is champagne and luxury tapas, so you can take a girlfriend along and make a day of it, or why not treat your partner for Valentine’s Day and indulge yourselves?

The experience is heightened by the exquisite salon. It really must be seen to be believed. Owner Louise Mariott says, “I wanted it to be bright, fresh, modern and unique. The ethos of the salon is the personal feel. You don’t feel inhibited, yet it’s still got the glamour of a Knightsbridge salon.” The interior is a slick vision of serenity. The combination of chrome, snow white walls and masculine black leather is softened by the citrus tones of lime green. Everywhere you turn you are graced with celebrity presences: Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and James Dean adorn the walls, adding elegance in an understated way.

There are two private treatment rooms, one for beauty, where you can have everything from Decléor facials to waxing. The second room’s sensual use of natural materials creates the perfect mood for the holistic treatments. Holistic practitioner Debbie’s soothing hands can massage away anything from daily stress to cellulite with lymphatic drainage. She explains, “I focus on getting the client to enjoy life, giving them a sense of freedom, rather than charging up and down the carretera all the time.” I can relate to that.

Creative nails and pedicures take place in the main room where you can relax on wicker thrones, placing your tired feet into sunken pedi-bowls, while Louise removes your acres of dead skin, leaving you walking on air. Enjoy acrylic or gel nails at the black granite nail bar or let the two Toni & Guy trained hair stylists coif your hair to perfection using Uber and Redken products. The team itself is bonded by experience. “All the therapists have between 20 and 25 years experience,” comments Louise. “I wanted the clients to feel secure. We understand everything from beauty to holistic. Our team can empathise with and listen to the client’s needs.” In fact POSH actually stands for P****d Off, Stressed and Hormonal. “If you feel like that, we can help you out," she laughs.

Louise herself is an aesthetician, with a Cidesco degree – she is one of the few therapists on the Coast to be able to say that. “I had six salons in the UK and am trained in everything. I love my job and have never not worked. I was also the accounts manager for Helena Rubinstein and Clarins at Harvey Nics and have worked with the likes of Simon Le Bon, Edward Woodward, the cast of Hi-De-Hi and Coronation Street.” She has also been featured in the Daily Mail and on Living In The Sun.

Other treatments available are semi permanent makeup, shiatsu, reki healing, botox, broken capillary treatment and body wraps. You name it, POSH does it. “I have also introduced ‘The Celebrity Make Over’, where you can walk out a totally re-invented new you. This will give you new confidence, which is what Marbella is all about.”

For lazy girls like me, you will be interested in the Power Plate centre. Power Plate products make acceleration training exercise available to anyone who wants full-body fitness in a shorter time span. It stimulates the body’s natural response to vibration. These vibrations transmit waves of energy throughout the body, activating muscle contractions between 25 and 50 times per second; in other words, a workout without getting sweaty. You can pop into POSH straight from work and get a workout without having to stand next to 20-year-old gym bunnies.

As I sit tapping my feet to the soulful sounds of Frank Sinatra, sipping my champagne and gazing at Audrey Hepburn, I feel the epitome of glamour or, should I even say – posh.
