LINGERIE MODELS AND THEIR UNDERWEAR DIETS
The thought of parading around in public wearing nothing more than your undies is, for most of us, the stuff of nightmares. For Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding, who’s just been signed as the new face of Ultimo lingerie, it's all in a days work! But just how does she keep in such great shape? I reveal the fitness regimes that keep Sarah and other gorgeous lingerie models in perfect shapeName: Sarah HardingAge: 24
Lingerie range: Ultimo
Diet and exercise routine: The Girls Aloud star is regularly snapped flaunting her curves in skimpy swimsuits, so modelling stunning lingerie will suit her down to the ground. Unlike many young stars Sarah’s happy with her figure and doesn’t feel pressurised to lose weight: “I’m a healthy girl. I’m a size 10 and I can sometimes get into a size 8.” She keeps in shape with regular sessions at the gym, saying: “I exercise regularly to keep myself fit and toned. I try to get to the gym at least once a week when we're busy. If we're not, I go up to three times and my routine includes running, rowing and stomach crunches." As for diet, Sarah and the rest of the band have a nutritionist to keep them in shape, and they were reportedly given cooking lessons after they lost too much weight because they didn’t eat properly while touring last year.Name: Kate Moss
Age: 32
Lingerie range: Agent Provocateur
Diet and exercise routine: Kate shows off her fab figure to the max in the new Agent Provocateur advertising campaign that consists of four risqué mini-films. The first − launched last − week led to tens of thousands of hits on the site, the most in one week since it was launched in 1999. Not a fan of faddy diets, Kate instead goes for detoxes. According to reports, she recently indulged herself with a £30,000 detox in the Maldives and regularly visits Thailand for pampering breaks with pal Sadie Frost.Name: Jordan
Age: 37
Lingerie range: Asda
Diet and exercise routine: Well known for her love of juicing, model mum Jordan lost an incredible two stone (13 kilograms) just eight weeks after giving birth to son Junior.
She swapped some of her meals for vitamin-packed juices that she made at home. She drank the juice twice a day then filled up on fish or chicken with plenty of salad or vegetables for her main meal. The slender model combined her juice diet with plenty of exercise, working out with a trainer three times a week. As well as helping her lose weight Jordan claims that the juicing helped reduce her cellulite – a definite bonus for any lingerie model!Name: Elle McPherson
Age: 43
Lingerie range: Elle McPherson Intimates
Diet and exercise routine: The Aussie model was nicknamed “The Body” back in the ‘80s, for her fabulously fit physique − and the name stuck. Now 43, and head of her own lingerie and swimwear chain, she's still got a body to die for. The mum-of-two keeps in shape with regular Pilates sessions − and also recommends laughter as a great way to keep in shape. "Laughing tones all the muscles in my body, especially my stomach muscles," she says. Name: Heidi Klum
Age: 33
Lingerie range: Victoria’s Secret
Diet and exercise routine: The German model famously took to the lingerie runways a month after giving birth to baby Henry. She wowed the crowds in a sparkly outfit and angel wings. Not a believer in faddy diets, she got her curves back by stuffing her face: "I eat, well, basically anything I feel like − even cookies, ice cream and fries." And it certainly seemed to do the trick. More recently, Heidi has fallen out with Elle McPherson, having made a bid for Elle’s long-established “The Body” nickname. Name: Helena Christensen
Age: 37
Lingerie range: Ultimo
Diet and exercise routine: Helena, the new face of Ultimo lingerie, following in the foot-steps of Rachel Hunter and Penny Lancaster, has a sensible attitude to eating. She reveals the simple secret to her model figure: “If you cut something out, you'll only want it more.” She continues: “Moderation is the key. Eat enough of your favourite foods to enjoy the taste, but don't overdo it.” WHAT’S IN OLIVES – Just 3 calories and 0.4 grams of fat per olive. Snack on these rather than peanuts at the bar. TEA – Studies show a cuppa helps cut stress. It is also packed with anti-ageing super-nutrients. PRUNES – The good old-fashioned way to give your colon a natural workout. WHAT’S OUT TORTILLA CHIPS – With 23 grams of fat per 100-gram bag… it’s easy to polish off a bag in front of the TV. You could eat a whole roast dinner for this. COLA – A study of 2,500 women showed frequent cola drinkers had a significantly higher risk of low bone-mineral density than women who do not drink cola. COLONIC IRRIGATION – Don’t be tempted. It damages the colon’s balance of bacteria – it’s bonkers. DID YOU KNOW? If you switch one pint (0.6 litres) of semi-skimmed milk a day for skimmed, you’ll save 28,105 cals a year – and shed seven pounds (three kilos)! WALK YOUR FAT OFF Just 60 minutes of brisk walking a day can help you shed four pounds (just under two kilos) over three months without changing your eating habits at all. Combine walking with a low-fat diet and you’ll double this. STICK TO IT! If you find yourself eating because you’re feeling low, stressed or bored, stick a note on the door of the fridge or the lid of the biscuit or cake tin saying simply, “What I’m looking for isn’t here.” Give it a go – you’ll find it really works. AND FINALLY… Eating half a grapefruit before every meal lowers levels of the fat-storing hormone insulin, and it reduces your appetite. It’s also packed with skin-boosting vitamin C.
