Summer Make Over Special

International make-up artist and glamour guru Armand takes us on a series of make-overs, giving advice on how to achieve the most out of your looks this summer. From the beautiful surroundings of Pangaea in Puerto Banús, Armand offers advice on must-have products and make-up tips to five women of varying ages, skin types and complexions. His first candidates were mother and daughter Itziar and Kristina. Itziar has olive skin and typically Spanish features while, although dark, Kristina’s complexion is slightly fairer. Follow Armand’s expertise and advice to them for fresh looks and a glamorous summer. ITZIARItziar has a slightly dehydrated complexion but clearly looks after her skin. She likes to spend time in the sun so good protection and lots of water are a must. I am going to work on a fresh, smouldering look to emphasise Itziar’s best feature – her eyes. BASE: MAC Hyper Real Foundation SPF 15TIP: Make sure you choose a foundation that suits your skin tone best. Try two or three different shades and test the tone by applying to the jaw line. Whichever blends in with the colour of the neck is the best shade for you. Apply with a sponge, brush or the fingers. I find using fingers the best method – start from the nose and spread outwards until all the foundation has evened out. Hyper Real by MAC is a fantastic base product – it contains a slight shimmer and glow, and is flattering to the skin, especially in the sunshine. CONCEALER: Yves Saint Laurent Touch D’Eclat (shade 3) TIP: Now available in different shades; use on the under-eye area and, if required, around the nose for instant light. CHEEKS AND COLOUR: Clarins Multi-Blush in Tender Raspberry (05) and Givenchy Prism Happy Sun (05)TIP: Multi-Blush is a great product for anyone who needs a pinch of colour or hint of glow. Apply to the apples of the cheeks to give instant colour. For warmth use Givenchy’s Sun Prism and blend the powder with the blusher. Start under the cheek-bones to define and contour the shape of the face, giving instant warmth. EYES: Chanel Compact Duo and Guerlain Mascara TIP: Apply the paler colour first, all over the moveable part of the lid. Use the darker shade just over the edge to widen the eyes. For added drama, incorporate grey and black shades along the line. A white liner used inside the point of the eye is optional to widen the eyes. Use lashings of mascara to finish the look. (Always remember to change your mascara every three months – after this time a mascara brush become extremely un-hygienic and contains the same amount of bacteria as a toilet seat!) EYEBROWS: Bobby Brown Eyeshadow (Mahogany) TIP: Itziar has beautifully shaped eyebrows and, with attention to detail, you can create a strong impression to make the look even more polished. LIPS: DIOR ULTRA GLOSS (333) and matching linerTIP: Orange and coral shades are big this summer and Dior have some great colours. Apply colour generously and always remember to top up. KRISTINA So many young girls get it wrong with make-up but really there are just a few basics they need to know. Kristina usually wears minimal make-up so we just needed to show her how to get the best out of her features for special occasions. Young skin can easily become acne-prone and problematic so a good skincare regime is important from an early stage. Fortunately, Kristina is already following a good skincare program. BASE: Estée Lauder Spotlight Skin Tone Perfecter and Prescriptives Traceless foundation TIP: Estée Lauder’s Spotlight can be used underneath conventional base. It gives instant brightness, contains a slight iridescence and is a fantastic product, especially if you’re going out somewhere in the evening. Kristina’s skin needed a base light in texture, and easy to apply. Again focus on the centre and move outwards until the foundation is evenly spread out. CONCEALER: Skin Flash by Christian Dior TIP: For a touch of lightweight concealer to hide any imperfections, use Skin Flash by Dior. CHEEKS AND COLOUR: Clinique Plush Plum Touch Blush and Givenchy Terracote Pudre Bronzante TIP: Apply Clinique’s Plush Plum to the cheeks and use a good bronzer over foundation for adding warmth and colour to any complexion. EYES: Sisley Golden Touch, Sisley Phyto-Mascara Ultra Volume and Lancóme Crayon in Gold TIP: Applied with the fingers, Golden Touch adds a lively sparkle to the eyes. Accentuate the eyes by using the Lancôme pencil in gold around the inside of the eyelashes and apply one coat of volumising Phyto-Mascara. LIPS: Sisley Phyto-Lip Eclat TIP: Coral or pink shades for lips create a fresh, vibrant look to complete any look for summer. For further information about Armand visit:
