Health and Beauty - Romantic Inspiration

Romantic Inspiration

Words by Armand 28/02/2006

If you're stuck for gift ideas in this month of romance, let me offer you some inspiration. Origins have produced a men's skin grooming set called Wise Guy, which contains an invigorating body wash, deep pore clay cleanser, energising shave cream and brightening face cleanser. At only £30 this is a perfect set for the guy on the go.Fragrances are a popular choice at this time of year but if you're thinking of spring cleaning your fragrances and trying something new then always try before you buy because they can smell totally different on your skin. There are also different compositions of fragrances, increasing in potency. First you have aftershave, then eau d' toilette, followed by eau de parfum and finally parfum. If you're looking for a new fragrance for your man here are a few for you to try: If he’s a traditionalist, try Givenchy Gentleman, or if he's more daring andprefers something a little bit spicy try Michael by Michael Kors. Dior pour Homme is the latest men's fragrance from Christian Dior - it's surprisingly easy to wear and is perfect for the funky yet sophisticated guy. However, my personal recommendation would have to be Kiton as I've been wearing this for 10 years and I'm totally addicted. This men's eau de toilette is an undiscovered gem and when I wear it people always comment on its subtle yet distinctive scent. The reduction of wrinkles would be a great Valentine’s gift this year and there are many skincare treatments that promise this. Two products that work deeper into your skin than regular products are Sisley's Daily Line Reducer, a firm favourite with the rich and famous, and Yves Saint Laurent Lisse Expert Advance Serum Intensif. The latter works on deep lines by activating the skin’s own Lamin 5, which strengthens the bond between the dermis and the epidermis of the skin, creating a “plump up” from within.Spring 2006 sees all the major launches of colour collections - this ranges from Clinique's colour in bloom collection to YSL’s audacious and contrasted collection. There seems to be a trend of trying different colours and contrasting them to create an incredible effect: for example, purple eyeliner with apricot eye shadow. Also make sure you highlight your cheekbones using shimmering glosses. One of my favourites is a clear gloss by Mac which is used on the cheekbone. If you'd like more of a colour then try Cinique's Colour Rub in Bronze Glow.Create the perfect pout by using Guerlain Kiss Kiss lipstick, available in a myriad of shades. These look and feel great, are long lasting and shouldn't be kissed off too easily. Emphasise your lashes by using Christian Dior Show Mascara or try new semi-permanent eyelashes such as those by Jinny Lash. These lashes are attached to your own and applied in a similar way to hair extensions – for fabulous flirty looks. Eye shadow colours are used over the entire eyelid, creating a ‘70s bohemian chic. Now hands up: who did that the first time around!!
