A touch of Glamour with Armand

Glamour guru Armand takes us on a series of make-overs, giving advice on how to achieve the most out of your looks this summer. From the beautiful surroundings of Pangaea in Puerto Banús, Armand offers advice on must-have products and make-up tips to five women of various ages, skin types and complexions.  Clare doesn’t wear too much make-up and prefers a natural look. I decided to work on a “feline” look, taking inspiration from the likes of Christina Aguilera. Anybody who has seen Christina’s latest video can see she has been bold with colour to emphasise her features (namely the eyes and lips), taking inspiration from Hollywood’s golden age between the 1920s and 1950s. Clare has features which really lend themselves to being dramatised. Moving into the autumn season, we’re going to be seeing a lot more vintage style styles with a modern twist. Clare’s own style is quite discreet yet chic and, even though she’s quite experimental with her eye make-up, she doesn’t really explore her potential with colour and liquid liner.
  1. BASE: Givenchy Sublimine Foundation
To create this dramatic and stylised look, I used a foundation which hydrates in certain areas and mattifies in others. Apply lightly from the nose and outwards, avoiding the eye area.
  1. CONCEALER: Sisley Eye Concealer
Make sure you use a suitable concealer. I used Sisley Eye Concealer to help reduce darkness around the eye area. It contains active ingredients to brighten and reduce puffiness, and acts as a great eye concealer.
  1. FINISH: MAC Studio Finish powder
We then set the look using MAC’s studio finish powder.
  1. EYESHADOW: Christian Dior
Christian Dior are leading the way at the moment with eyeshadows and I used a very dramatic compact which has five shades in it. These multi-packed eye shadows are perfect to create versatility for any look.
  1. EYELINER: Christian Dior Liquid Liner
To add sophistication to this look, I used Dior’s Liquid Liner which is great for first-time liquid liner users to try. Top tip: dot the liner as close to the lashes as possible on the upper lashes, gradually filling in as you go. This will create an even line because you’re using the lashes as a guideline. When you’re feeling brave, extend the line at the outer edge of the eye very slightly. The whole effect should be a thin, delicate line going slightly thicker towards the outer edge of the eye.  6: EYELASHES: Diorshow Waterproof Mascara For this look, eye lashes should be full. Use Diorshow waterproof mascara in black which is excellent for life on the Coast – you can swim, go on the beach all day… even cry. Be generous with application on both top and bottom lashes for this particular look.
  1. EYEBROWS: Laura Mercier in Eyebrow Duo in Aubaun
For this retro look, emphasis on eyebrows is essential and I decided to use Laura Mercier’s Eyebrow Duo in auburn. Top tip: your eyebrow shape will determine the whole effect of your eye make-up. If you want a more classic look then go for a higher eyebrow shape. For first-time pluckers, have your shape professionally done. I recommend waxing for fairer skins as you get a cleaner and fresher look (but always remember to ask for a wax patch test first to check for any sensitivity). For darker complexions, if you can stand the pain, try threading which removes hair from the roots – very effective… provided you can stand the pain.
  1. LIPS: Chanel Pout
This look could easily carry a red lipstick for extra “va va voom”. But I think it’s always important to match your look to your personality so you feel complete and confident in what you’re wearing. Clare always wears a natural look so we decided to go for a bronze-inspired effect for the lips. Chanel Pout and Lancôme have both got excellent lip glosses at the moment – and, of course, be very liberal with your gloss.
  1. BRONZE: Lancôme bronzing range
Heighten the overall look and effect of your cheekbones with any product from Lancôme’s excellent bronzing range.
