Mango - Cutting Edge Style With a Vintage Touch

Words by H! Society 12/02/2008

Mango has presented a new autumn/winter collection which is defined and inspired by two different eras. The collection is composed of two lines: one is based on the style of the 1920s but adds a hint of grunge; while the other line highlights the femininity of the 1940s. The collection includes cape style coats, and coats with the sleeves “cut short”, all brought together with thick belts and layered over sweaters and jumpers. It also focuses heavily on layers, a good way to keep warm this winter. Short-sleeved coats over jumper dresses with tights, dresses over shirts and shorts over tights all appear in different styles and colours.  The leading colours in the collection are purple – often seen on many catwalks this season – red, black and brown; while big belts and big buttons also feature. Gloves are shown with different outfits; and in leather, suede and patent they are sure to go with every design. Also present is imitation fur in mink and leopard; in fact, these hats, bags and coats are much better than the real thing. Checks and floral prints are combined to add a feminine look to blouses under large sweaters; and retro prints and high-waisted trousers pay homage to the glamour of 1940s cinema.Perfect for keeping warm in these winter months, Mango offers a style to suit everybody; fashionable yet affordable, this collection combines cutting edge fashion with a vintage feel.
